Top 3 Products Seen Backstage at Fashion Week

So what were the cult beauty products seen everywhere backstage this season? Here are the top three...

Evian Face Mist - This product was definitely a hit with the male models as I heard several requesting it back stage at both the James Long and Tim Soar shows at LFW!

This is a 3 in 1 product to moisturise and tone whilst re-hydrating the skin. The Evian Face Mist is a great prep product to refresh stressed out, tired skin. I also saw a few artists using the Evian spray to slightly moisten their sponges before using them to blend cream foundations.

Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate - I saw this stashed in many kits this season and here's why. Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate is a brilliant all round moisturiser that is particularly great for rescuing dry, flaky, dehydrated skin to give you a smooth and nourished canvas to work on.

Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleansing Solution - Yep another french brand with a cult following so next time you hop across the channel stock up. The Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleansing Solution is a super gentle, fragrance free, calming cleanser that performs.

I did a little investigating to find out what makes this popular cleanser so great so here's the science bit... "Solution of fatty acid esters, both emulgatory and filmogenous, enables dirt to be emulsified and surface hydrolipidic film to be reconstituted.Soothing and emollient, thanks to cucumber extract.Non detergent, non foaming, neutral pH. Soap free."

Let me know what the staples are in your kit that you couldn't do with out come fashion week. I would also be interested to know what you think of these products if you use them so leave a comment if you have something to add!

When Inspiration Strikes: Gucci S/S 09

Inspiration is everywhere. That’s a fact. But who or what caught my eye this week….

I am sooooo in love with the jewel tones seen in the new Gucci ad campaign, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Every time I open a magazine I swoon over the bold use of colour on the eyes and am drawn to the rich, vibrant purples that make the Gucci campaign stand out to me. I am itching to introduce some colour into my work now and can definitely hear my Yaby Pearl Paints calling to me!

Eyes smoldered in jewel tones on the Gucci S/S09 runway too as Pat McGrath injected the same intensity of colour into the show that we are now seeing in the ad campaign. Using a vivid turquoise shade on the eyes she took inspiration from the beautiful aqua accent colour used in the collection. View the full Gucci S/S 09 show here.

Victoria Kirby interviews Pat McGrath and Luigi Murenu who talk through the hair and makeup choices for the show below. Its a great peek behind the scenes with Allure so enjoy!

What has inspired you this week...are the new trends for spring exciting you yet? Let me know what you think of the Gucci campaign and leave a comment.

S/09 Paris Couture Shows Roundup

The Paris Couture shows are always a hub of creativity where the most talented designers are invited to send their most outlandish fashion fantasies down the catwalk.

The makeup and hair designed for these theatrical extravaganzas are some of the most creative and experimental looks you will see grace the runways so here is a round up of the Spring 2009 shows.

Armani Prive

Chanel

Christian Dior

Christian Lacroix
Givenchy

Elie Saab

Jean Paul Gaultier

Valentino

The makeup looks were a little more somber than we have come to expect which is no doubt yet another nod to the recession however the couture shows are always such an inspiration to me and hopefully for you too.

What do you think of the Spring 2009 Paris shows? Leave a comment and tell me what your favourite look is.
